Money for college...help?

I live in Pa and I filled out my FAFSA in early January. I got my Pell grant but when my bill came for college, my Pa state grant wasn't listed. I called up the state and they said that I hadn't turned in a copy of my high school diploma (I guess a letter was sent back in March before I even graduated saying I needed to submit it...which I never got) So, now I need to figure out what to do about that 2k that probably won't be in before school starts at the end of this month. How do I approach my school about the situation? Also, I am about $500 short for books. Is there anywhere I can go to get the money? Loans aren't an option. I've already taken out the maximum federal stafford loans and I don't have a co-signer with good credit. Any help would be appreciated. I managed to get 30k in scholarships/grants. I would hate to come this far and not be able to go.
