Why do I have abnormal hormone levels after total hysterectomy?

I had my last ovary removed just over a year ago (had previously had a hysterectomy and one ovary removed). For a short time following my surgery I used Estrace to deal with my hormone levels but only used it for a short time due to the fact that I was having bad problems with my high blood pressure. So I have not been using any sort of hormones at all since last year, but I had suspicions that there was something strange going on because I wasn't having certain symptoms of menopause that I would have expected to have. I went to my doctor and he did bloodwork and was completely puzzled because according to my readings, I have not entered menopause. He's referring me to a specialist because he can't figure out what the heck is causing this but in the meantime I'm just wondering if anybody out there has ever experienced this or has heard of it happening to anyone before and what might be causing it?
