What Kind Of Obstacles Harvey Milk Faced?

Harvey was Jewish and gay - not the most popular combination in the late Sixties and early Seventies. He was the first openly gay politician elected to office in California, after losing three times before. He made people understand for the first time that a gay man could live openly and be successful in his life. The conservative atmosphere collided with the new liberal sensibilities in the early Seventies (he had moved to San Francisco in 1972) and Milk was seen, after his ination, as a martyr for gay rights in the new Gay Freedom movement.
